r transition to the Faculty and the University! E-Buddies are up
per-year engineering peer mentors who will provide support by answering qu
estions about life at U of T Engineering\, sharing their experiences\, and
providing information about campus resources. They will also provide info
rmal programming and events to build community amongst international stude
nts\, as well as provide support through structured workshops and events.<

\nExperiential Learni
ng in Engineering Education: “A Golden Age for Makers”
\n
In January 2022\, the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto\, in coll
aboration with Professor Sean Hum\, launched an exciting new second-year c
ourse\, ECE295 – Hardware Design and Communication\, whic
h has students working in teams to design\, build and test a complete elec
tronic system from scratch. “Students are involved from the conceptual and computer-aided design ri
ght down to the mounting of components on the circuit boards\, as well as
using a variety of modern test and measurement equipment and debugging the
ir designs\,” Professor Sean Hum says. “That end-to-end experience isn’t a
vailable at other universities — not at the second-year level.”
Join us on April 5 at the Faculty C
lub to hear Professor Sean Hum share his rationale for implementing this i
nnovative new course in our curriculum and how it advances student success
. Guests will have an opp
ortunity to network with some of the talented students from ECE295 and to
to view some of the final hardware design products created by the students
themselves!
