Deadline: Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017, 4:00pm EST
The Engineering Science Research Opportunity Program is student-driven, with each applicant being required to seek out and secure their own supervisor. Students are welcome to approach faculty members at the University of Toronto, but you may need to be prepared to explain how the program works, as not all faculty may be familiar with ESROP.
For 2017 there are up to 12 ESROP fellowships available for students wishing to undertake a summer (May-August) research project. The value of an ESROP fellowship is $3000. The research supervisor is required to make a contribution equal to or greater than the value of the fellowship.
ESROP applications are open to all Engineering Science students who are completing their First or Second year of study. Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or visa students may apply. Visa students are required to ensure that they have the necessary permission and documentation from immigration authorities.
Applicants should submit a single application for one (1) research experience. The Division will not decide between multiple projects/laboratories as part of the application process. Applicants and their supervisors will be notified of the results of the competition by mid-March.
Successful applicants will be required to provide a written report to the Division of Engineering Science at the end of the summer summarizing their research experience in the program.
Any questions about ESROP may be directed to Scott Sleeth, Engineering Science Curriculum Officer, at email@example.com.
How to Apply:
1) Complete the online ESROP application, available below.
2) Attach your completed Statement of Research Interests to your online application. This statement should describe your own research interests and how the proposed experience will complement your current program of studies and your personal academic or professional goals.
3) Complete the attached ESROP Supervisor Confirmation Form, which must be submitted as a hard copy to the Division of Engineering Science, Bahen, Room 2110, by the deadline.
