Praxis II Showcase 2014

The Praxis II class of 2014 was challenged to effect a real and measurable improvement in the lived experience of a community located in the Greater Toronto Area. Sixty-four teams will be presenting their design solutions at the annual Praxis II Showcase. The Showcase is open to the public with solutions to each challenge presented throughout the day.

The sixty-four student teams will present their engineering design solutions to:

  • A Redesign of the Ward's Island Ferry Dock Waiting Area [abstract]
  • Curling Ice Affected by Impurities from Footwear [abstract]
  • Decreasing the Likelihood for RSI in UHN Housekeepers [abstract]
  • Improving Accessibility for Smooth Paramedics’ Operations in Toronto Ambulances [abstract]
  • Improving Meat Refrigeration in the Absence of Electricity at the Bolton Farmers’ Market [abstract]
  • Improving the Communication Abilities of Senior Anomic Aphasia Patients [abstract]
  • Improving The Scott Mission’s Donations Processing Framework [abstract]
  • A Better Seatbelt for Children with Intellectual Disabilities [abstract]

Since 2006 first-year Engineering Science students in Praxis II have been identifying, framing, and solving engineering design challenges that relate to the City of Toronto. Their activities culminate in the annual Praxis II Showcase where the students present and defend their engineering design solutions.
