Stephen’s many leadership roles stem from his desire to empower others to make lasting improvements to their communities. He founded the Volunteer Engineering Experience Program, connecting students with opportunities to deploy their technical engineering skills in service to non-profit organizations in the Toronto community. He led a team of five to create this program for over fifty students, numbers that have continuously grown from there. As part of the You’re Next Career Network he led a team of ten in creating the largest career fair in the organization’s history. Aside from mentoring his team, his work gave thousands of U of T students the chance to engage employers across a wide array of industries. Beyond campus, Stephen volunteered at AMREF during the school year, using data analytics to tackle maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity in rural Tanzania.
After graduation, Stephen will be interning as a data scientist at a solar energy company in Kenya. In September, he will be joining a management consultancy in Toronto.
