Since graduating from EngSci, Allan Kuan has taken a break from academics and has returned his focus to his interest in music, giving performances around Toronto and doing accompaniment at his old music school. He has also been working at the Mark Higgins Structures Laboratory at U of T in preparation for his graduate studies, which will begin in September under the supervision of Professor Michael Collins and Professor Evan Bentz. They are currently testing the largest reinforced concrete beam ever constructed in a laboratory setting; Allan is very excited to be a part of the research. Allan states that he is working to satisfy his broader interests during the summer before jumping right back into academics this fall.
Allan provides words of encouragement to EngSci students and fellow graduates:
“Perseverance, persistence, and willingness to learn are traits which I have developed as an EngSci student. They are the key traits which lay out the path for success in any discipline. Throughout the past four years of school, I have had the honour of being part of a class which embodies these traits completely; I am completely confident that each and every one of my peers will be very successful in the future.”
