Computer Engineering, 0T9+PEY
After graduating from EngSci, Geoffrey Siu moved to Washington, where he worked at Microsoft designing tests for the phishing filter in Internet Explorer. Geoffrey says that it was very exciting to work on a product used by hundreds of millions of people. He quips that it’s also great to know that he’s helping to protect his grandparents from unsafe websites. Geoffrey left Microsoft after a couple years to join his future wife who was studying dentistry in Montreal. He worked at Nuance on the development of a speech recognition system for cars and finished a Master’s degree in Computer Science at McGill University. Last month, Geoffrey and his fiancée graduated, got married, and moved back to Washington, where he has returned to Microsoft and is currently working on extensions to Office for iPad.
Geoffrey comments on the benefits of the course requirements in Engineering Science:
“The knowledge that I gained from the required humanities courses was valuable in developing global products for use in different cultures.”
