SUMMARY:Vancouver\, BC – Thinking Out Loud Together: Why Civil Discourse Matters On and Off Campus
DESCRIPTION:This regional alumni and friends event is open to all U of T community members in the Vancouver area. \nIn his talk\, novelist and professor Randy Boyagoda (HBA 1999 A&S TRIN)\, the University of Toronto’s advisor on civil discourse\, explores the challenges of thinking out loud together across our personal\, professional\, and public lives. He’ll discuss the U of T’s civil discourse portfolio\, why a commitment to disagreeing well and dialogue across difference matters\, and how the university is taking a leading role in this important area. \nProfessor Boyagoda is Vice-Dean\, Undergraduate in the Faculty of Arts & Science and a professor in the Department of English. His work at the university in civil discourse earned him a place on Toronto Life magazine’s list of Toronto’s 50 most influential people in 2024. \nDon’t miss this chance to sit in on an exclusive talk and connect with fellow U of T community members in Vancouver. \nREGISTER HERE
