SUMMARY:Praxis II Showcase
DESCRIPTION:EngSci’s Praxis II Showcase is open to the public.\nAt the Praxis II Showcase\, student teams present and demonstrate their designs to stakeholders and the general public. Attendees will be able to ask questions and talk to the teams in small group chats. \nRead about a previous Praxis II Showcase in the U of T Engineering News. \nSee photos from last year’s event. \nPraxis II is a Year 1 course that allows Engineering Science students to refine and apply their engineering\, design\, and communication skills. The students are given a single challenge: \nEffect a verified and validated sustainable improvement in the lived experience of a community. \nFocusing on a community allows students to gain first-hand experience with the issues confronting real groups of people and to engage one-on-one with stakeholders and community representatives. \nThe course culminates in the public Praxis II Showcase. At the event\, students share their refined understanding of their opportunity and their proposed engineering designs with a wide audience through posters\, prototypes and presentations. \nRegistration is requested for guests who are not affiliated with the course\, though drop-ins are also welcome. \nSEE THE EVENT SCHEDULE AND REGISTER HERE\nMedia enquiries are welcome.  Please visit the link above for contact information. \n  \nStudents examine materials used by classmates in their project at the 2025 Praxis II Showcase.

SUMMARY:Disruptors & Dilemmas presents: Rethinking higher education in the era of AI
DESCRIPTION:Technology is rapidly reshaping the educational landscape\, transforming how students learn\, create and make decisions. AI tools now personalize content in real time and generate instant feedback. This deep shift is challenging us to reimagine learning goals in the classroom and\, surprisingly\, encouraging us to strength human-centered skills like critical thinking\, empathy and creativity.    \nWhat does it mean to develop human potential in a world where machines produce answers instantly.\nAs students interact with knowledge in new ways\, big questions emerge about cognition\, development and what it truly means to learn. Universities are rethinking assessment and learning to ensure graduates can thrive not only in today’s workforce but in a future defined by constant technological change.    \nJoin leading experts for an exciting conversation about the future of teaching\, learning and the vital role of educational institutions in applying new technologies with intentionality\, driving innovation in a way that is ethical and inclusive. Explore how learning goals are evolving\, the impact on employment and how we can build educational systems that empower students for whatever comes next.   \nFind full details and registration here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a Disruptors and Dilemmas speaker series event. \nThis event is co-hosted by: University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering\, Faculty of Arts & Science\, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
