DESCRIPTION:Get ready for ESEC 2026!\n\n\n\nYears 1 & 2 EngSci students: \nNever been to a professional conference before?\nShy about interacting with more senior professionals? \nJoin this professional development workshop to build your skills.  You’ll leave feeling more confident\, present\, and prepared for meaningful engagement in a professional setting like the ESEC experience. \nYou will learn: \n\nHow to navigate new interactions with ease\nHow to view “networking” as “relationship-building”\nHow to prepare for a networking situation\nHow to be a good listener\nThe art of asking good professional questions at a conference or 1:1\n\nWe will explore mindsets that support your personal and professional growth\, empowering you to explore diverse career pathways and possibilities. \nThese skills are more important than ever and will help you throughout your career. \n\n\n\nRegistration details coming in December 2025.  This event will be in person and is open to Year 1 and 2 EngSci students only.

DESCRIPTION:Now in its 21st year\, this annual conference aims to broaden our students’ horizons through engagement with world leaders in a wide range of sectors related to our program’s subjects.\n\nEngSci students learn about research\, education and career opportunities for young engineers from innovators and thought leaders in engineering-related fields. \nSpeakers share their expertise and career path through presentations and informal networking events. \nESEC 2026 will be held in person with small group “fireside chats”\, lectures\, and Lunch & Learn. \nFollow ESEC on Instagram to stay up-to-date on events and prep materials. \n\n\nAre you an alum or friend of the program who would like to attend?  Please email Christina Heidorn at engsci@utoronto.ca. \n\nPlease note that this event is for current students in the Engineering Science program only.  We are not able to accommodate students from other programs. \nEngSci students listen to a presentation by retired Canadian astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk at ESEC 2025.
