My Path to the Dark Side (i.e., How I Went into Law)

Vanessa Komarnicki (EngSci 0T7)

Abstract

When I went through Engineering Science, I fully expected to have a career in engineering.  After all, my father is an engineer and my mother a microbiologist, so my going into the sciences was sort of a given.  But a funny thing happened on the way to becoming a licensed engineer.  When studying for the legal component of the PEO’s licensing exam, I discovered an interest in law.  It was still a form of problem solving, but one where creativity was a variable in the equation.  So I made my way north on campus to the Faculty of Law.  A talk for anyone wondering what else you can do with an engineering education.
