Liam MacKichan (1T7) is the winner of this year’s Class of 5T3 Engineering Award. This award is presented by U of T Engineering alumni to a student who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of character and leadership within the U of T and the community at large.
Liam received the award at the recent Skule Lunch & Learn Student Awards Lunch for his work in starting the U of T student chapter of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, co-leading the U of T Seismic Design Team, and his many other activities. “The two foundation years of Engineering Science really gave me the confidence to tackle very stimulating problems that I would have previously thought too challenging,” MacKichan says. “I have been able to compliment my studies with some very interesting extracurricular activities such as my work on the Concrete Canoe Team and in establishing the Seismic Design Team.”
