Who will be the first to launch a rocket into orbit from Canada? This EngSci alumnus hopes his company will lead the way

EngSci alumnus Rahul Goel shared his thoughts on the future of Canada’s aerospace industry on CBC’s The National.

 

Canada has long been very active in the space sector, from building satellites and the famous Canadarm for the International Space Station to participating in missions to Mars.  But one thing Canadians have never done is launch a rocket into orbit from home soil.

Alumnus Rahul Goel (EngSci 1T6) and his company, NordSpace, are aiming to change that.   They are preparing to launch a six-metre long suborbital rocket from a site in Newfoundland on the way to expanding the countries capabilities and economy in this sector.

Goel and his team were recently featured in CBC News in anticipation of their upcoming launch window.
