Volunteer Opportunities

Alumni Volunteers

Throughout the year, many EngSci alumni generously volunteer their time to assist with our educational mission.

Volunteering your time and expertise is an easy way to make a difference in the life of a student and your alma mater’s vibrant community. We have many rewarding student-focused, Faculty-level and University-wide volunteer opportunities for alumni. Make a connection, share your experiences and inspire the next generation of engineers today.

To stay informed about all local, regional and online volunteer and mentorship opportunities, keep your profile up to date in U of T Engineering CONNECT.

Alumni Assessors for the Engineering Science Research Opportunities Program

Looking for a way to give back to EngSci and help current EngSci students? Every year the Division of Engineering Science selects about 50 students to complete summer research placements at top institutions around the world as part of its Engineering Science Research Opportunities Program called ESROP – Global.  See where some of last year’s students went.  We need EngSci alumni to volunteer to help us review the over 150 applications we receive annually for this highly competitive program.

If you can spare about 2 hours of your time in mid-January to assist us in selecting the best and the brightest, please register when you see the call for volunteers in late fall.

Not sure if you’re on our mailing list?  Update your profile in U of T Engineering CONNECT, or contact Scott Sleeth, Curriculum Officer, to be added to our distribution.

Do you currently work at a research institution and have an interest in hosting a student as part of ESROP – Global? Contact Scott Sleeth at the address above for information on becoming a host.

Guest speakers in seminar courses

Our professors regularly invite alumni and other professionals to participate in courses as guest speakers or mentors.  If you would like to be considered for such an opportunity, please contact Christina Heidorn, External Relations Officer, with a brief bio outlining your areas of expertise.
