EngSci alumnus Steven Lamb (EngSci 9T0, MSc Physics 2004) will be recognized on June 27 in San Francisco as the Most Innovative CEO, Information Technology Software (11-99 employees) at the prestigious CEO World Awards®.

These awards are an annual industry and peer recognition of CEOs and companies of all types and sizes from around the world, in categories such as leadership, innovation, and new products.

Lamb is a data storage expert and a serial entrepreneur whose previous four ventures sold for a collective $300 million. His Storage-as-Service company, ioFABRIC Inc., was recognized in 2015 as one of CRN magazine’s 10 “coolest” start-ups of the year in data storage for a game-changing product called ioFabric Vicinity.

Lamb aims to fundamentally change the way companies store and manage data by using intelligent automation to integrate existing and new storage hardware and improve performance. His team has developed a system that automatically migrates data across diverse storage resources to match performance requirements.

Previous to ioFABRIC, Lamb partnered with two fellow University of Toronto alumni who joined forces after graduation to start one of the first internet application firewalls. Click here to read his thoughts on how to become a serial entrepreneur.
