EngSci alumna wins Young Engineer Award

Serena Mandla (bottom row, middle) is among six U of T Engineering professors and alumni recognized with 2024 Ontario Professional Engineers Awards

 

Each year the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OPSE) and Professional Engineers Ontario recognize engineers in the province who have made exceptional contributions to their profession and to society.

Alumna Serena Mandla (EngSci 1T7, BME MASc 1T9) received the Young Engineer Award, which is given to an engineer 35 years of age or younger who has shown excellence in their career, community, and professional service.

Mandla is a biotechnology entrepreneur who co-founded Noa Therapeutics to develop treatments for immune diseases.  She contributes tirelessly to outreach, mentorship, and training programs, particularly for underrepresented groups.
