The University of Toronto is pleased to announce the date of our Spring 2021 virtual convocation ceremony. We understand the importance of celebrating your remarkable achievements and hard work in reaching this significant milestone, even at a time when our traditional convocation ceremonies are not possible because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In place of in-person ceremonies, the University will host a virtual Convocation ceremony in which the Chancellor will officially confer degrees on members of the June 2021 graduating class.

On June 24 and 25, 2021, the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering is launching Engineering Research Days, a new virtual event that will bring together our research community and create opportunities for collaboration. U of T Engineering continues to be Canada’s top-ranked engineering school and consistently ranks in the global top 20. Our faculty are international leaders in their fields, innovative educators and dedicated mentors. U of T Engineering’s research strengths draw students and faculty from all over the world.
This year’s theme of ‘Empowering Innovation’ highlights U of T Engineering’s research accomplishments and spotlight opportunities for collaboration across faculty, external partners, industry representatives and the broader U of T community. Both the program and platform, Spatial Chat, are designed to foster and encourage interaction in an engaging and collaborative environment.

This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the École Polytechnique massacre, the deadliest mass shooting in Canadian history. The 14 victims, 12 of whom were engineering students, were targeted because they were women in an engineering school. The anniversary of the tragedy has since become a day of remembrance and action against the many ways women continue to experience harm, violence and discrimination — particularly among girls, Indigenous women, two-spirit people, Black women, trans women, racialized women, and women in STEM.
On Monday, December 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, we invite students, staff, faculty, librarians, alumni and partners to attend a virtual, tri-campus commemoration of this important day. The event includes a memorial and panel discussion about the rise of gender-based violence during COVID-19, and how we can integrate prevention strategies into our pandemic recovery. Together, we will re-commit ourselves to reflection, awareness and putting an end to gender-based violence.
